Morgaine: it is very simple. Do not tell DEFRA that your dog is a Sarloos. Declare him as a crossbreed - say, a husky crossed with german shepherd. For 10 years we have lived here in the UK with a Siberian Husky cross Timber Wolf. Very sadly, we have just lost him. All our friends, relations and neighbours had and have no idea that he was 75% wolf. Why should they? Wolves, pure or crossed with dogs, pose no threat to anyone.

My advice is come to the UK with your beautiful dog - and just tell everyone he is a husky cross. No-one can prove any different. There is no genetic test that can prove whether a dog is part wolf.

Government regulations are funny, huh? Do they also outlaw Chow, GSD, Malamute and Husky? They all have "wolf" in them (as do all dogs), with the GSD the most recent.
