Just wondering if there are any wolfdog owner in the northern Virginia DC area. I would love to meet one of these dogs in person!! I know there is a breeder here in VA but she lives about 3 1/2 hours from me. So I was hoping some one had one closer to me to meet.

We had to travel 6 hours to get our girl from Romania (actual mileage wasn't so high, but the roads were non-existant in places!) - if you really want to do something, nothing is a hurdle...

I think Marcy & affiliates/Galomy Oak would be the only ones I know of in Virginia.

Three and a half hours really doesn't seem like a long distance, especially with such a rare breed. There are less than a hundred in the states, after all. We visited Galomy Oak while we were on the east coast as well, from Philadelphia.. Last edited by yukidomari; 28-04-2011 at 18:50. |

Well when it comes to actually getting the dog I have no problem traveling. I was jet hoping that some one would be near me with a wolfdog. If there is no one, I would drive down to see her dogs if she allows it. I have emailed her about the breed a week or so ago and have not got a reply. Im assuming she gets alot of emails.

We drove to just visit Marcy and meet her CsVs as well. It's worth the trip.. in my opinion.. beautiful countryside, nice dogs, and a lovely human being. |

I think the true number is far less than 100. The real number is about half that, although it might have changed a little since 2 sizeable litters were born in 2011 in the US.

My wife drove from New York City ro VA to meet up with Marcy and to finalize Luna if needed. She said it was well worth the drive.

Of course that's not as abad as the time we drove from Ft Lauderdale, FL (near Miami) to northern VA and back in 2.5 days to pick up Zorro as a puppy. The crazy things we do for our dogs!

Even if here in Italy we have really a lot of CSVs and I have the luck to have few of them living near us, to see breeders and knowing people I think we've done more than 2000 km... and our final chance was a 2 hours and a half from home. I went thrice. Once with my parents to go and meet Spettro's mother (who was pregnant at the time

Don't be afraid of distance and find a good time to spend with them. Seeing them "live" is the only way to understand if they are really fit for us. |
