This: http://www.ukcdogs.com/WebSite.nsf/8...ElemFormat=gif is the current graphic used by the UKC to illustrate an ideal CsV. It accompanies the standards. Even back in 2007 when I first started reading about CsV and the standards, I thought that the picture made the dog look very drab, and indeed, plain and even ugly. In fact I don't think it looks much like a CsV at all, much less an 'ideal' one. What does everyone else think? Is it a good representative picture? |

Totally wrong position and lenght of tail, the dog in picture has too little hair, untypical head and - hard to be exact with drawing, but his chest is... hm... too round, it should get more narrow when going down. Also the coloration is not tipical for a wolfdog... I also don't like his shoulder - guess it is "too straight", isn't it? | |

To me it seems a drawing of an early GSD. Margo put some similar ones in this thread (2nd post):http://www.wolfdog.org/forum/showthread.php?t=14750

I'm looking at a bunch of their picture and none of them look really good. I noticed the Belgian shepherd doesn't have one - maybe the UBSDA had them remove it (or that there are 4 varieties of the BSD?)? I think the issue is that these are like sketches, which never look like a good representation. Does anyone have a sketch of a CSV that looks good? When the club is finalized with UKC - maybe this is something (well, one of the many things) we can work on.

LOL! Agreed! I always wondered if the judges were thinking of this image when they judged my dogs.

Thanks for all the responses. Well, I can volunteer my humble services if needed. I used to do some art both traditional medium and cgi for commission, so I'm not too terrible... But I'd need some model photos to base off of ..wouldn't want to draw a specific dog, per se,.. And then I'd wonder if there should be two pictures, as the male and female look quite different to me, too.. Thoughts? |
