Default white CsW puppy?

Hi, everybody.

Today I've seen on the site this photo:
http://www.wolfdog.org/php/modules.php?op=modload&name=WolfdogGallery&file=di splay&newlang=eng&id"15
I want to ask you: is it OK that CsW puppy is practically white? I've
never seen such puppies and I'm interested how it can be.

Best regards from Russia,

Natalija

For puppy it's OK to have such light coat because the color will change
significantly in the future. The principle for adult gray CzWs is that they
are OK as long as the mask is clearly visible. No mask is a fault and the
light dog would look like albino without it (this may happen after mating
two light gray CzWs).

And by the way: the puppy that you mentioned in your message does not look
white at all at this time .

Greetings,
Przemek

Even I can see this is a grey pup, it's belly and legs are pale but it's a
grey pup.
A very cute one at that! *smiles*

I wonder, why it can't be white Csw;s also, cause there is white GSD;s sometimes, and white wolves. Both can also be, even they are not from combination of two light wolf / dog. I know, that this puppy really is not white (can see), but i was only wondering.

I agree!! Beautiful pup, and the look on his face! Wow! This is going to be
a very smart one
BTW .. in the Shiloh world, these are called "silver sables" and are very
rare!! We only get one <maybe 2> out of a hundred!! I could not even find
good pictures <for examples> to use on our website! The Husky fanciers have
every color & marking pictured, and it is very helpful to newcomers that want
to see the various colors! So if anyone here has some good pictures <like
the ones on your website> that they would be willing to allow me to use on
the Shiloh Shepherd website, please send them to our webmaster.

This is a common mistake many breeders and owners of Czechoslovakian
Wolfdogs make ))) CzW should not look like a WOLF. It should look like a
EUROPEAN wolf. There are no white or even grey wolves in Europe. All have
more or less brown hairs (and white mask)...
It is very important to pay attention to this because there are differences
between the European Wolves and the species living in North America. It's
not only the colour but also form of the ears, head, body, weight a.s.o.

I know the American photos are very popular on internet sites but it's worth
to look after the pictures on the Eur.Wolves because only these pictures
show how the standard Czechoslovakian Wolfdog should look like....

Greetings,
Margo

But the issue of the look like a European wolves is difficult too, isn't it?
There are the Italian wolves, those guys are very small and skinny. The ones
they are in Siberian are stronger and taller. And what about the German
shepherd look?
I ask, because I always fall in love with the CzW, there are the rather thin
ones and do not have the German shepherd look. But I'm not sure if that
really counts to the CzW standard. Can you tell me?

Margo was not specific enough. For creating the breed was used exactly one
subspecies of European Wolves: Canis lupus lupus. To be even more exact it
was one type of Canis lupus lupus: the wolves are called Carpathian Wolves
and leave in middle Europe (Slovakia, Romania, Poland, Ukraina and some time
ago in Czech Republic). You can find some photos of Canis lupus lupus or
American wolves that are similar to this subspecies in wolfdog.org gallery.

Every characteristic that is typical for German Shepherd like strong
angulation of legs, black mask, too heavy head (with open lips) or slopping
topline are considered a fault by Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. In general the
more a specific CzW is similar to the Canis lupus lupus the better in
regards to breed standard the CzW is. In one point the standard summarize
even that CzW should look like a wolf.... Unfortunately it's not specified
that it should be similar to Canis lupus lupus subspecies and people may
have incorrect image about perfect breed representatives looking at US grey
or arctic wolves.

But don't worry Margo is preparing a commentary to the breed standard that
will soon be published on wolfdog.org website that will exactly describe
every single part of perfect CzW body building and exterieur. The commentary
will be based on breed standard, original writtings of Mr. Hartl and Mr.
Rosik and on scientific researches of Prof. H. Okarma who published a unique
monograph of wolves living in Poland and Slovakia (which are Canis lupus
lupus). So be patient ))
