The average speed for "excellent" note in SVP1-3 is 12km/h and it usually is equal to a slow trot of a wolfdog. Motivated wolfdog in good condition and with long legs can trot even up to 18-20km/h. Basically trot is the desired way of movement because the dog is able to trot for much longer distance than in gallop and wastes less energy - very important on longer distances.

If you plan to do long distance training on a regular basis then don't forget to increase amount of proteins and fat in the daily diet of your dog since fat is the main source of energy by long training and proteins help maintain muscles.

...Uno is usually trotting when we train for long distance run, but for short distances he sometimes gallop !
